    Houghton County Memorial Airport (CMX) is a public airport, situated just 5 miles from Houghton/Hancock and southwest of Calumet village, Houghton County, Michigan, USA. Hancock airport was established thanks to co-operation between the dominion of Canada, the United States Government, Houghton County and the State of Michigan. This agreement is known as the Canadian-Michigan Exchange, thus the IATA abbreviation - CMX. Conveniently situated between 4 counties of Houghton, Ontonagon, Keweenaw and Baraga, this location results in nearly 50 to 55 thousands passengers every year. Houghton county memorial airport flights are mainly directed to Chicago O'Hare International airport.

    Houghton airport is a small one-story terminal building with two asphalt runways. First established in 1968, the airport lived through some significant improvements. New facilities and utilities, additional hangars, fire station and renewed terminal building were provided. The runways were also improved and nowadays can take in aircraft as large as Boeing 737.

    Hancock airport also provides flight operations in coordination with Wings of Mercy Inc. This group provides free transportation to distant medical facilities for patients with limited financial funds.

    Houghton airport parking

    Also referred as Hancock airport parking, it is a very convenient and easy to access place to leave your vehicle during the trip. The parking lot is located right across the airport terminal. Take note, that Houghton county airport parking is an outdoor parking type, with no covered parking spaces.

    Hancock airport parking rates

    Parking at Hancock airport has a fixed price of $5 per calendar day or any part of one. Simply pick a place to park your car and the airport personnel will do the rest. The airport policy directs the procedure of leaving parking fee envelopes with marked dates on the rear view mirror. This procedure must be executed every day. Upon return, count all the marked dates and multiply it by $5 to figure out your total parking fee.

    There are 5 easy ways to pay up the bill: the Outside Drop Box, the Inside Drop Box, via the United States mail service, thought the airport Operations office or with a credit card. The Outside Drop Box is a simple red box that can be found right in front of the terminal building entrance. The Inside Drop Box is located in the terminals vestibule. Simply drop your parking envelope with the payment into the box. You can use the self-addressed envelope to receive your fee via mail. You can also personally pay the fee with cash or credit card (Mastercard, Visa or Discover), at the Operations office. Office working days are from Monday till Friday, 9:00am till 5:00pm (except the holidays). Or you can call the office (906.482.3970) and pay with credit card from anywhere you like. Please note that late payments may result in up charged fees.
